The Road to Hana in Hawaii, located on the east side of Maui, boasts an almost unending supply of breathtaking waterfalls. It’s possible to become bored after seeing these many waterfalls in this part of the world. This extra twisty route is an experience in and of itself, with bends, one-lane roads, cliffs, a gorgeous jungle, and waterfalls galore. However, traveling the Road to Hana can take an entire day if you stop frequently. So, determining what is worth a visit is critical so that you may focus your time on the best Hana highway waterfalls. So here are the must-see waterfall destinations.
Twin Falls
Twins Falls is situated on the Road to Hana Highway at Mile Marker 2. This is a fairly modest waterfall, and it can be challenging to locate the authentic Twin Falls; that is why the expert of Stardust Hawaii is here for your help. This stop features a number of minor waterfalls.
Falls of Waikamoi
Mileage 10 is the location. Waikamoi Falls is frequently entirely dry (seasonal). However, when it rains, the falls can become extremely powerful, as shown above.
Puohokamoa Falls, Lower
Lower Puohokamoa Falls is 0.8 miles beyond Mile Marker 10. The falls can only be seen from the Garden of Eden (an entry charge is required, but it is worth the price), which is situated just before the falls.
Puohokamoa Falls, Upper
This waterfall on the road to Hana, situated near mile marker 11, is similarly only viewable from the Garden of Eden.
The Haipuaena Falls
This little waterfall is about a half mile after the 11-mileposts. There are larger waterfalls on Road to Hana upstream, but they are harder to reach. So, we usually avoid this waterfall.
Ching’s Pond and Waterfalls
Ching’s Pond, also known as the Blue Sapphire Pools, is a small Hana highway waterfall located approximately 0.8 miles past milepost 16. This is a favorite hangout for locals, particularly on weekends. Swim with caution but never dive into this (or any other) fall!
Falls of Pua’a Ka’a
This waterfall is situated in Pua’a Ka’a Wayside Park on the Hana Highway at mile marker 22. There are larger falls in the area, but none are readily available, so you’ll prefer to appreciate the modest, quiet falls near the picnic spot.
Upper Hanawi Falls are located in Hawaii.
Upper Hanawi Falls, shortly after milepost 24, is generally constantly flowing. It gets going after a heavy rain, and numerous fresh falls arise.
The Makapipi Falls
At mile 25, Makapipi Falls may be seen just beneath the bridge. This Hana highway waterfall could be dry at times, but it can also provide a unique viewpoint of a waterfall because you can stand straight over it and look straight down on it.
Falls of Ala’alaula
The milepost is now counting down past Hana town. These little falls, located just past mile marker 46, is one we usually skip. However, it is worth mentioning.
The Paihi Falls
You’ll cross these beautiful falls on your right immediately before Mile Marker 45. (mauka). It’s a beautiful waterfall, but finding a parking spot and taking photos is challenging.
The Wailua Falls
This is, without a doubt, our favorite waterfall on Maui. Wailua Falls is found at Mile 45. This beautiful waterfall with a short trail on the opposite side of the bridge will help you get a deeper look if you choose. Just be cautious of the often-slick rocks.
Pools and Falls at Oheo Gulch
The Oheo Gulch (aka Seven Sacred Falls) has a number of stunning waterfalls, although the lower falls along the Kuloa Point Trail are among the greatest.
The Makahiku Falls
This lovely waterfall on the road to Hana, located about a half mile up the Pipiwai Trail, is frequently obstructed by foliage (and occasionally not even running if it is dry). Still, when it is visible, it is an incredible sight.
The Waimoku Falls
The incredible 400′ Waimoku Falls awaits you after climbing 2 miles past the Pipiwai Trail at Oheo Gulch. It is the tallest waterfall in Maui that is easily accessible. Ideal for a lovely meal before returning along the trail.
